Koolan Island Iron Ore Development Stages 1 & 2 – Koolan Island (WA) 2007
|
Peak Industrial Electrical were engaged to provide the design and construction of the crushing, conveying, screening and radial stacking facility for the Koolan Island iron ore project. The works included a 1000m downhill conveyor with a regenerative drive system which utilises the inertia of the product on the belt to generate electricity back into the electrical distribution system. Purpose built MCC rooms were established around the site for the power distribution and the control system included a telemetry communication between MCC rooms with a redundant fibre link as backup. Peak’s project scope was then extended to include the electrical installation for the shiploader and loading wharf. This included power distribution and control integration with the crushing plant control system. Peak delivered both projects safely within deadlines – despite the remoteness of the location and extreme weather conditions.
